Landscape turf vs sports turf
Landscape turf is about appearance and comfort underfoot. Pile heights are shorter, there is no infill, and the priority is a natural look that holds up in sun.
Sports turf is engineered for mechanical performance: longer monofilament yarn that stands up to studs, sand and rubber infill that controls ball roll and player grip, and usually a shock pad underneath.
- Lawns, terraces, balconies — 20–35 mm landscape pile, no infill
- Play areas and creches — 25–40 mm, soft pile
- Five-a-side arenas — 40–45 mm monofilament with infill
- Competitive football — 50–60 mm monofilament, infill and shock pad
