SBR or EPDM?
SBR is recycled black rubber — strong, cost-effective and the right choice wherever colour does not matter or the floor is indoors.
EPDM is a coloured synthetic rubber that holds its colour under UV and resists ozone. It costs more, so it is normally used as a thin wearing layer over an SBR base rather than through the full thickness.
- Indoor gym floors — SBR, black or fleck
- Outdoor play areas — EPDM wearing layer over SBR base
- Walkways and parks — SBR tile, EPDM top where colour matters
- Wet areas and pool surrounds — EPDM, free-draining
