Playground Flooring

The purpose of a play surface is to absorb the energy of a falling child. How much energy it has to absorb depends entirely on how far they fall, which is why thickness is specified against equipment height rather than chosen from a price list.

Send us the heights of everything on site and we will specify against them. It is a short conversation that materially changes how safe the finished area is.

Interlocking mats and loose tiles develop trip edges as they shift, and those edges cause exactly the kind of fall the surface was installed to protect against.

A seamless wet-pour surface has no joints to lift. On play areas we recommend it over matting almost every time, and the cost difference is smaller than most clients expect.

Because wet-pour is laid in multiple colours in a single pour, play graphics go into the surface rather than being painted on it — hopscotch grids, number lines, animal shapes, a running loop around the perimeter, a school crest at the entrance.

Painted markings wear off within a season or two. Inlaid ones last as long as the floor does.
