How many layers do you need?
Acrylic court systems are built up in coats. More coats means more cushioning, better wear and a longer interval before recoating — but the right answer depends on how many hours the court will actually be played on.
A school or society court plays perfectly well on a mid-range system. A club or academy court used for hours every day earns back the cost of a cushioned build-up in reduced player injury and a longer resurfacing cycle.
- 2–3 layer — light recreational use
- 5 layer — schools, societies, regular club play
- 7–8 layer cushioned — academies, daily training, competitive play
